If you're in crisis, please reach out to Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636. I can offer counselling support, but I'm not a crisis service. Once you're through the immediate moment, I'm here — and I understand what that moment feels like.

It is not just bad PMS.
And it is not who you are.
PMDD is a neurological sensitivity to the hormonal changes of your cycle. In the luteal phase, your brain responds differently -- and it can feel like a completely different person taking over.
Your reactions make sense. Your symptoms are real. You have a condition that most medical professionals still do not recognise properly -- and you deserve support that actually understands it.
- Rage that comes out of nowhere and leaves you full of shame
- Thoughts that feel like facts, until suddenly they don't
- Cancelling plans, pulling back, going quiet
- Feeling like a burden to the people you love most
- The grief of losing days, weeks, sometimes years to this
- Being told it's just hormones -- and feeling completely alone in it
Built by someone
who has been there.
I am Amanda Westphal -- registered counsellor and the only practitioner in Australia specialising exclusively in PMDD.
I know what it is to be dismissed by doctors, to feel like you are falling apart once a month, to grieve the years you spent not knowing what was happening to you. That experience is exactly why I built this work.
My approach draws on DBT, ACT, and Internal Family Systems -- adapted specifically for the PMDD cycle. Not generic wellness. Not advice that ignores your luteal phase. A real system, built for real symptoms.

When I am my PMDD self, I feel incapable. When I am my true self -- so capable. These distinctions may need to be printed on my wall.

“
Finding Amanda was like finding a pearl. I have stopped fighting myself. PMDD is no longer the loudest voice.
Holly
“
I spent years in therapy trying to fix myself. It was not until I understood PMDD is neurological that everything finally made sense.

I am not a bad wife and mum. I am a person who is struggling. My child is seeing a mum who works to find ways to cope -- and that matters.

“
I now tell people I cannot meet on Thursday because I am due to feel depressed. Previously I would have just pushed through. I never thought I would be this person.

Amanda is warm, empathetic, insightful and proactive. I would recommend her for ANYONE with PMDD. She gets it in a way no other practitioner ever has.

I planned my whole month around my cycle for the first time. I did not lose a week. I feel like I finally live with my body instead of fighting it.
